First off, Sam, please know that we are there for you for any woes - even if we we more familiar with the beyond borders anxieties, we care about you personally. Specifically, although you may feel a bit alone "chillin in Toronto," I am just a phone call away. That emotional intelligence bit is very interesting. It's good to know that even the rational thinkers out there can be energized by emotion. I would like to work on expressing my emotion in words so that I can be understood more easily. The part about emotional intelligence being able to manage emotions in others is a tad disturbing - I don't want some emotional mastermind manipulating me and I don't want to make others feel a certain way either. I would more like people be able to express themselves whatever they think or feel. Perhaps the emotional management comes in there also as giving others the confidence or stirring them up enough to feel something. Music is great example.
Humanized politicians sadly aren't seen to be not as effective but for an example to show that is not true, look no further than Nelson Mandela. That was a politician that was truly himself, even on the global stage. And depending on who you ask, Trudeau was an honest politician that fought for French rights even while he was staunchly Canadian and not seperatist. These politicians do exist but I agree, they do seem very rare.
